Reading FANUC Servo Amplifier Part Numbers

A FANUC servo amplifier is identified by the A06B part number on its label, such as A06B-6105-H002 or A06B-6114-H302. Order by that full number, every character after the H and any suffix after the pound sign. A close number is not a match. Send us a photo of the label and we will check it against our stock.

What the Amplifier Does

The servo amplifier takes commands from the controller and drives the servo motors on each axis. On a robot it sits inside the controller cabinet. On a CNC machine it sits in the electrical cabinet with the control. Our post on understanding servo amplifiers goes through how they work and what they connect to.

Because the amplifier powers the motors, it is sized to the motors and the machine it was built for. That is the reason the part number matters as much as it does. An amplifier off a small robot and one off a large robot can look similar on a shelf and be very different inside.

Where to Find the Part Number

FANUC puts a label on the amplifier with the A06B number on it. Depending on the cabinet, you may be able to read it without pulling the amplifier. Look for the full string: A06B, a group of four digits, then the H number. Some numbers end with a pound sign and more characters. Our FANUC spindle amplifier, for example, is listed as A06B-6121-H011#H550.

Copy the number exactly as printed. Take a photo too. A 6 and a 0, or an 8 and a B, are easy to mix up when you write it down in a dark cabinet.

Why the Full Number and Suffix Matter

Look at the amplifiers in our own stock. We have FANUC servo amplifiers listed as A06B-6105-H002 and A06B-6114-H302, A06B-6105-H003 servo amplifiers, and an A06B-6114-H104 FANUC drive. The 6105-H002 and 6105-H003 start the same way but are listed as different parts, and so are the 6114-H104 and 6114-H302.

We list each amplifier by its exact number because that is the only safe way to sell them. We do not tell customers that two different part numbers will swap. If the number on your old amp does not match what we have, tell us both numbers and we will tell you plainly whether we have an exact match. Whether a different number will work in your machine is a question for FANUC or your controls person, not a guess.

What to Have Ready

  • The full A06B number, including the H number and any suffix, typed out.
  • A clear photo of the label, straight on, with the whole label in the frame.
  • The robot or machine model. For example, an Arc Mate 100iB, an M-710iC/50, or the CNC machine and its control.
  • The controller. RJ3iB, R-30iA, R-30iB, R-30iB Plus, or the CNC control series. Our posts on the R-J3iB controller and the R-30iB A and B cabinets cover those two generations.
  • Why you are replacing it. Any alarm the controller showed is useful. If the amp failed, check the motor and the robot connection cables too, since a shorted cable or motor can damage a replacement amp.
  • How many. If you are stocking spares for a line of identical robots, say so up front.

RJ3iB Era Amplifiers

The A06B-6105-H002 in our stock is from the RJ3iB era. We also stock RJ3iB robots, including Arc Mate 100iB welding robots and FANUC S-500iB robots. Match the number on your amp before you order. If you need a whole controller instead, we also have a FANUC RJ3iB controller from 2005.
